Audi AI:me Concept Teased Before Shanghai Debut [UPDATE]

Your premium compact, autonomous people mover is now available.

Last month, the Q4 Etron electric crossover was revealed. Although it appeared almost ready for production (and will be available on the assembly lines in 2020 and 2021), the company’s new study is not yet ready for production. It is called the AI:me, and will be unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show in April 15. This is clearly not an Audi model. This is the Audi A3.

Audi AI:me Concept Teased Before Shanghai Debut [UPDATE]

Concept From what we can see from the first drawings, the vehicle appears to be a compact people-hauler. It has a sloped roofline at its front and an angular approach towards the rear. We don’t know the exact seating arrangement of the cabin at this stage, but it appears that the vehicle can accommodate four passengers.

“Audi AI.me” is the name for a new design study, which the brand with four rings will present at the Shanghai Motor Show (April 15, 2019). According to the official press release from Audi, the showcar “illustrates the vision for an automated driving compact vehicle for the megacities and tomorrow.”

A single sketch of the interior shows an interesting layout with a large screen behind the steering wheel, and wood trim panels. The study is self-driving so expect the steering column retractable.

The vehicle will likely be showing Audi’s latest autonomous technologies and artificial intelligence, as the name suggests. Stay tuned for more information on the Shanghai Motor Show, April 15, when we will know more.
