This is a simple way to increase functionality in your vehicle.
Audi announced that navigation can be added to certain infotainment systems it doesn’t already have for a princely sum $85 per month, or $850 per annum. You can purchase the new subscription service through the myAudi Marketplace within the myAudi mobile application.
This subscription service is available on select 2021 Audi Q5, Q5 Sportback models, A4, A5 premium and premium plus, as well as the E-Tron Sportback and E-Tron Sportback. The full experience is available for $85 per month. Wi-Fi connectivity can be added at $49 per month. Basic navigation can be added at $36 per month.
Subscribers will have access to many features, including natural speech recognition, real-life satellite view and handwriting recognition. These eligible vehicles have a 10.1-inch larger MMI touch screen that allows for better navigation visibility. You can share the 4G LTE Wi Fi connection with up eight devices.
Although most people use their smartphone to find directions, there will always exist customers who prefer a full-integrated navigation experience. This subscription, according to the German automaker, is ideal for customers who require short-term functionality for road trips or an upgrade to their functionality.
It will be interesting to see if Audi’s subscription service can match the success of other high-profile infotainment and guidance systems, such as Apple CarPlay. We’d love to know which navigation system you prefer: your smartphone, an integrated one or both.
