Audi E-Tron Gets An Extra 15.5 Miles Of Range In Europe Based on WLTP, it will travel 270.9 miles (436 km) As EV technology advances, range anxiety is less common. As a result, advancements are occurring at an alarming rate. Audi is an example of this as it is already increasing the Etron’s range. The electric SUV was introduced in production just over a year ago. However, engineers were able to extend the range by 15.5 miles (25 km) to make the total reach 270.9 miles (436 km). Although it might not seem like a significant improvement, every mile counts. Especially since Audi won’t increase the price of the vehicle’s starting price. The update applies to the E-Tron55 Quattro version sold here in Europe. Therefore, the range is based upon the WLTP cycle. The model is priced at EUR80,000. It can also be purchased alongside an E-Tron 50Quattro starting from EUR71.350, if you are willing to compromise on 208.8 miles (336 km) of range. Audi was able to extend the range of its more expensive E-Tron by almost 16 miles. A new wheel brake was developed to reduce residual brake torque. This refers to the loss caused by the fact that the brake calipers are located near the brake discs. Engineers have also made the drivetrain more efficient by deactivating almost all of the front electric motors when the SUV driver is in normal driving mode. The motor at the front is disconnected from the electric supply. It kicks in when the driver requires more power. The E-Tron 55 Quattro has also seen a significant improvement in the battery pack. It now has a usable power of 86.5 kWh. Audi has also optimized cooling to reduce temperature fluctuations in high-voltage components. Audi claims that the enhanced recuperation function contributes up to 30% to overall range. The function kicks in when the driver releases the accelerator pedal (coasting recovery) or the brake pedal is depressed (“braking recuperation”). You can adjust the former through one of three stages. Audi claims that there are more differences than ever between them, and that the one-pedal driving method is easier to use. An optional S Line exterior package is available for the Euro-spec Audi E-Tron. It includes a sport air suspension, alloy wheels and 20-inch wheels. This kit includes a more aggressive body kit that features larger air curtains to improve airflow at the front and a spoiler/diffuser at the back, further increasing aero. The S Line kit includes all new parts, which are the same color as the body. Audi Europe is already accepting orders for the new E-Tron.
