Evidently, electric motors don’t perform as well as potato arc reactors.
This story begins with an Avengers Endgame spoiler warning. The movie has only been out for two month, which in Marvel Cinematic Universe is approximately 3000 years. So, Tony Stark, AKA Iron Man, is dead. Audi was the automaker-of-choice of superhero Stark. However, in real life, the Hollywood-Ingolstadt relationship continues with the new Marvel-themed Audi short film featuring Spider-Man.
What is the point of this extended Audi advertisement? Peter Parker and Ned try to win the school’s science fair. They get some help from the company’s E-tron GT concept vehicle. It’s not just that. The science fair “emergency”, which requires Spider-Man to act quickly to save the day, is clearly more than that. This invariably leads to the super hero slinging his way around the city. This Audi commercial is quite long, so there are many close-ups of Peter Parker driving his e-tron with a lively manner to get to the school. Spider-Man, in this instance second, saves the day. They might have won if Peter or Ned had known about the etron GT concept’s electrical range when they asked the judges.
Audi produced a similar video to promote its E-tron SUV, which was in preparation for Avengers Endgame back April. Bree Larson, Captain Marvel, was shown being briefed about the SUV’s capabilities before going into full-on war with Thanos. Ironically, Captain Marvel was not a major part of the blockbuster, but Audi’s presence certainly wasn’t overlooked.
Audi has confirmed that the e-tron SUV, the A7, and Q8 will all make an appearance in the Spider-Man movie. Spider-Man Far from Home will be released in theaters across the U.S. starting July 7.
