Audi chose not to use the ‘S” label on the A1 since it does not come with the Quattro all wheel drive system.
PistonHeads.com reports that Audi had considered using the S1 name to refer to the range-topping 1.4 TFSI which it will be displaying at the Paris motor show next Wednesday, but decided to not use the ‘S’ label.
Audi decided not to use the iconic ‘S’ badge on a car that didn’t have its quattro all wheel drive system.
The front-wheel-drive compact hatch Audi A1 1.4 TFSI comes with the VW Group’s award-winning 1.4 liter TFSI engine. The top A1 variant has a power output of 136 kW (182 PS/182 hp) or 250 Nm (184lb-ft) respectively. Audi’s seven speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission is available on the A1 1.4 FFSI. This A1 can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. It has a top speed at 227 km/h (141 MPH). Fuel-economy measures 5.9 liters/100km (40 mpg in the US) and CO2 emissions is 139 g/km (224g/mile).
The model will be unveiled at the Paris motorshow on October 2, (September 30, for the media) and it will go on sale later in 2018.
