Audi R20 will be street-legal LeMans vehicle – Report

A recent report claims that Audi’s diesel-electric supercar, the LeMans, will have a single-frame grille and vertical LED headlights. It also has an adjustable rear wings.

Quattro GmbH’s Managing Director Franciscus van Meel already stated that Audi’s upcoming supercar would overthrow the McLaren P1. But, new details are beginning to emerge about this mysterious model.

Automobile Magazine reports that the car, which could be called R20, will be street-legal LeMans vehicle with a single-frame grille and vertical LED headlights. The rear wing can also be used as an air brake. The car could have active aerodynamics, gullwing doors and a full-length tailfin similar to the one on the R18 race car.

Inside, expect a “black panel display center” and active sports seats with 4-point harnesses.

A twin-turbo V6 TDI engine with two electric motors could provide power to the front wheels. The combined output could be approximately 700 HP (515kW) You can also expect torque vectoring technology and an e-quattro four-wheel drive. There is also a limited range of electric-only capabilities.

The car could be revealed at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. It will go into production in 2016. The production is limited to 100 to 250 units.
