Which will win?
Audi is turning a new page in its history thanks to the RS E-Tron GT. This all-electric sedan represents a leap forward in technology, but how does it compare with Audi’s performance-packed past? The Auditography YouTube channel has released a new video that compares the 2021 Audi R8 V10 Power to the all-new 2021 Audi RS E-Tron GT. Which car is faster for the quarter-mile? Check out the video to see which is faster.
The R8’s naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 is less powerful than the RS E-Tron GT. The R8 is capable of producing 620 horsepower (462 Kilowatts) as well as 428 pound-feet (580 Newton meters) of torque. The E-Tron produces a little more power, 646 horsepower (481 kW), and 613 lb-ft (830Nm) more torque. Although the EV is heavier than the sedan, it’s still a good alternative.
Both Audis finish the quarter-mile race. The RS E-Tron GT takes the lead from the beginning, and the R8 doesn’t get any rest. The E-Tron completes the quarter-mile in 10.69 seconds thanks to its all-electric powertrain. With a time of 10.95 seconds, the R8 was close behind. These times are impressive considering the performance gap. The E-Tron GT reached 100 km/h (62 miles/h) in 2.85 seconds while the R8 did it in 2.95 seconds. The time difference between the 200 kph (124 MPH) and the R8 is larger at 9.91 seconds and 10.20 respectively.
Drag racing demonstrates how much performance all-electric powertrains offer automakers. The RS E-Tron GT family sedan can carry five people around the Nurburgring without any problems. Although the E-Tron isn’t as powerful as the R8, we know that EV technology will improve and become more efficient. This means that there will soon be lighter, faster all-electric cars.
