Even on winter tires, it’s faster than advertised.
3.3 seconds – That’s the minimum time that the new Audi RS E-Tron GT takes to reach 62 mph (100 km/h). It’s 0.6s quicker than the gone-but-not-forgotten R8 E-Tron, which was a full-blown electric supercar whereas Ingolstadt’s new EV seats four people and offers more than decent practicality. In fact, it is faster than the silent performer with Four Rings in real life.
YouTuber Automann TV posted a video showing the flagship RS version pushed to its limits on a section of Germany’s Autobahn. Despite the fact that the RS E-Tron GT’s winter tires had a negative impact on performance, the car managed to complete the sprint in a remarkable 3.2 seconds.
The car was able to complete the 0-124 mph (0–200 km/h), task in 10.5 seconds. It continued its high-speed run until it reached 159 mph (265 km/h). Because the electronic speed limiter kicks in at this velocity, the car was actually traveling 155 mph (250 km/h). Modern speedometers usually show a slightly higher speed.
The Audi RS E-Tron GT, a sedan that is 2,420 kg (5,335 lbs) in European specification, is remarkably fast. It was also curious to see how it performed in acceleration tests ranging from 62 mph up to 124 (100 to 200 km/h) which is more relevant to Autobahn driving, when you need to pass someone or change lanes. The task was completed in seven seconds.
With larger summer tires, the torque should be channeled more efficiently to the road by allowing for a shorter driving time. The RS E-Tron GT, while it isn’t a Porsche Taycan Turbo S and Tesla Model S Plaid but it is a solid first attempt by Audi to provide a mix of performance as well as practicality without a combustion engine. There are reports that a wagon will be available to match the Taycan Cross Turismo, which is expected to be more practical.
