The RS1 prototype was seen testing around the ring in a large rear spoiler and very little camouflage.
These are the first spy photos of the Audi RS1 2012/2013 that were taken at the Nurburgring test circuit.
The Audi A1 range-topper, the RS1 was spotted wearing a large rear roof wing/spoiler as well as very little camouflage.
The big question is what the prototype is wearing under the hood.
We spotted an S1 test on the ring earlier this year. That model will be equipped with a turbocharged, 1.6-liter unit producing 220 PS (162kW/ 217hp), paired to a new quattro all wheel drive system.
We expect a lot more power from the RS1 with quattro all wheel drive. The Audi A1 Clubsport quetro Concept was powered by a modified 2.5 liter five-cylinder TFSI unit that produces 503 PS (496 bhp / 370 kW) and 660 Nm (486.79lb-ft).
This proves that Audi can fit the 2.5-liter TFSI unit in the A1’s engine compartment with a quattro and six-speed manual gearbox. However, the output of the 2.5 TFSI unit will be much lower than the 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb ft.) on the Audi TT-RS models.
