Audi RS5 Vs Porsche 911 Carrera S Drag Race Is Super Close

A 3.0-liter flat-six-cylinder engine versus a 2.9-liter V6.

Modern Porsches have been criticized for being more expensive than their direct competitors. We’re not here to make any final judgments so we’ll just tell the truth. An Audi RS5 starts from $75,195 in the United States. A comparable new 911 Carrera S costs $113,300. This is almost 40 grand more than the performance of the RS5. Is that true?

A new video by Carwow compares the two cars in a drag race. This will show which car is faster off the line. For reference, the 911 (992 Carrera S) in the United Kingdom, where Carwow is based on, costs from PS93,000 while the RS5 starts at PS67,000.

They have vastly different powertrains. Stuttgart’s new flat-six twin turbo engine, 3.0-liter flat-six, produces 450 horsepower (33 kilowatts) as well as 391 pound-feet (353 Newton-meters), behind the seats. The Audi’s front uses a 2.9-liter twin turbo V6 that generates 450 horsepower (336 kW) as well as a little more torque (442 lbft (600 Nm).

Both cars come with eight-speed automatic gearboxes. The RS5’s tranny converts traditional torque to a RS5 while the two door sports car from Porsche uses a dual-clutch box. The final thing is the weight. The 911 is 3,200 lbs (1.6 tons), while the RS5 is 3,400 lbs (1.7 tonnes).

These numbers only mean one thing: it will be a close race. This chase will answer the question: Is the 911 worth 40 grand more than its five-door rival? You can see the video to find this out.
