Audi RS6-R By ABT Tries To Beat Stock BMW M5 CS In Drag Race

Modified versus stock.

Only a handful of cars, not from the supercar category, can accelerate from a standstill at 62 mph to 0-100 km/h (0-100 km/h) in under three seconds. We’ve seen the BMW M5 CS in action a few times, proving that it is a true beast. We saw it destroying an Audi RS7 stock Audi RS7 a few weeks back, and ABT wasn’t pleased with the result.

A new video shows the M5 CS competing against ABT’s RS6R, which is the fastest wagon on the planet. It was first unveiled last April, and the German team drove one to discover it’s an absolute rocket. Is it capable of beating the M5 CS? Let’s look at the numbers. The Bimmer comes in stock form, which means that its twin-turbo 4.4-liter twin turbo engine produces 626 horsepower (467 Kilowatts) as well as 553 pound-feet (775 Newton-meters) of torque. The sedan is 4,189 pounds and weighs 1,900 kilograms.

The RS6R uses a modified version Audi’s 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 with 544 kW and 678 lbft (920 Nm). Both cars are all-wheel driven, which should be a big help as the drag racing video at the top is on a wet surface. Although the acceleration and quarter-mile times weren’t very good, it was still remarkable to see a car weighing in at two tonnes sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just four seconds. The standing start discipline saw three runs by the cars. The M5 CS won the first race comfortably, but the ABT-tuned RS6 won the second. Which car won this final race? Check out the video to see.
