Already there are signs of an SQ2, and the RS Q2 may also be possible.
Audi already hinted that it would send its smallest crossover to the gym in order to build muscle for the SQ2. A more sporty Q2 prototype was also captured at the Nurburgring. That might have been an indication of what was to come. This render attempts to look into the future performance version. We won’t be surprised if it comes this year or in 2018.
The SQ2 (name still to be confirmed) will feature a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine derived from the facelifted S3 Sportback. The TFSI unit can produce 310 horsepower (228kilowatts), and 295 pound feet (400 Newton-meters), respectively, in the hot hatch. This torque is channeled to Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive.
The SQ2 will have a larger engine and a more attractive appearance. The SQ2 will have slightly sportier bumpers than the regular version of this small crossover. A lowered suspension will allow it to be more agile around corners. You can also get larger alloy wheels with enlarged brakes and quad exhaust tips flanking the rear diffuser.
Audi Sport may offer a more powerful RS Q2 model. Insiders at Audi Sport have confirmed to Auto Express that it is being considered. This seems plausible, considering Ingolstadt’s go faster division has already made clear more RS UAVs are in the pipeline. The larger RS Q5/RS Q7 will be the first to go, but Audi might add the RS badge to the Q2 later on. Seeing how VW’s posh marque presented a Q8 Sports concept, it is possible that the RS SUV assault will also include an RS Q8 in years to come.
The RS Q2 is likely to be made available in five-door Sportback or four-door Sedan versions. It will be equipped with the 2.5-liter five-cylinder TFSI, which produces a hefty 400 horsepower (294 kW) as well as 354 lb-ft (348 Nm), and it will also have both axles geared to the TFSI.
