Tuner’s view on the Audi RS Q2 that Audi may build.

The Audi Q2 doesn’t get much media coverage for whatever reason. It could be that the tiny high-rider isn’t available in the United States, or it’s just not interesting enough to get much media coverage. Ingolstadt’s entry level crossover rarely makes the news. The Four Rings have unveiled a warm S version of their baby CUV at the Paris Motor Show in October 2018. The SQ2 is similar to all other Audi Sport S and RS models, and it also rivals the BMW X2 M35i as well as its VAG sibling, the Volkswagen T-RocR.

Although the jury is still not out on whether Quattro GmbH’s go-faster division will ever release a full-fat or RS Q2, one tuner decided to spice up the SQ2. German aftermarket specialists ABT, who specialize in VW Group products, took the smallest Audi Sport SUV to work with its turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline motor.

The standard four-banger produces 296 horsepower and 295 pounds-feet (400 Newton meters) of torque. However, ABT can dial the 2.0 TFSI up to 345 HP and 325 lb/ft (440 Nm). Two tenths of seconds has been saved by the addition of 49 horses and 30 Lb-ft (40Nm) torque. The tricked-out SQ2 completes the task now in 4.6 seconds.

ABT also modified the speed limiter so that the SQ2 can go faster than the electronically controlled velocity of 155 mph (250 km/h) achieved by the stock model, which was built at Audi’s Ingolstadt plant. This is in addition to the Q2 and lesser versions. The new muscle will allow it to go flat out at 163 mph (262 km/h).

This is not an ordinary SQ2 and the tuner removed the standard wheels to make way for custom 19- or 20-inch glossy black alloys, which come with a wheel-spacer set.
