Audi has been rumored to be developing a Q9.
Audi’s SUV and crossover lineup looks set to expand with the addition of another model. The large Audi SUV that was captured by our spy photographers near VW Group’s Swedish testing facility suggests that it may be the long-rumored AudiQ9. These photos show the test vehicle with production taillights and stand-in headlights. The SUV’s design is hidden beneath camouflage.
The photos show a large grille with thick headlights flanked by small intakes to house the fog lights. The bumper’s bottom, which has a large opening at the lower, appears chunky in comparison to other Audi models. Although rumors had once circulated that the Q9 would sport a coupe-like appearance due to its large cargo space and spacious interior, the SUV shown in these photos is much more conventional.
Rumours that Audi was working on a Q9 date back at least to 2013, when the automaker registered the Q9 name. Although there had been rumors of such a model for years, these spy photos are the first tangible evidence that it may exist. Although powertrain details are still unknown, rumors have suggested that the SUV would be powered by a twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V8 with 600 horsepower (441 kW) and plug-in hybrid options. Although electrification is possible, a sportier S- or RS model is unlikely.
The camouflage that the test vehicle is wearing is not what they see on Audi test cars in Europe, according to our photographers. This camouflage pattern was used on prototypes in China. It’s no surprise that Audi has designed the Q9 to appeal to this market. It could be bigger than the Bentley Bentayga with seven seats instead of three rows. However, a two-row, four-seat model that focuses on luxury and opulence is possible. It is possible that the Q9 will be available before the end.
