That’s not a great look.
Since the Ram TX was introduced last year, there have been ongoing volleys between Hellcat-powered truck fans and Ford Raptor loyalists. Ram himself even joined the trash talk by telling Ford to pop its new Raptor’s Hood via tweet. As we know, the Ford Raptor doesn’t yet have a V8. Not until the Ford F-150 Raptor R is available next year.
It seems that Ram’s tweet doesn’t seem to have aged so well, at least when you consider the incident in Utah. YouTuber Ben Hardy took his new Ram TRX on a short off-road trail in order to have some fun with his $100,000 truck.
This video was intended to be his first impressions video for YouTube. However, the TRX broke down mid-way due to leaking fluids underneath. Hardy and his friends couldn’t identify the problem, but the truck wouldn’t start. Hardy was accompanied by his friends in the trail in a Ford Raptor. At this point, he had to be towed by one of them. This page contains video of the whole event, as well as the off-roading.
Hardy had to walk back to the dealership in order to have the TRX checked. The dealership found out that the transmission was the culprit. The main cause was the high-pressure transmission breakage, which eventually led to the total destruction of the entire transmission system.
The video shows that the dealer will replace the transmission. Hardy was even given a nice Ram 1500 Limited loaner. Ram was also interested in Hardy’s video and sent a representative to the dealership to deal with it.
Although it was great customer service, it was not the best. This customer also has a YouTube channel, which was clearly bad PR for the brand. Ram should be able to provide this level of service to all customers. Or, better yet, that this transmission issue doesn’t occur to any other TRXs.
