It offers a wider range than the Model S, at least conceptually.

A Tesla Model S competitor is on the horizon. However, it’s not from North America and Europe. It actually comes from further east, and is still in idea form.

The Beijing Radiance Concept was unveiled at the 2020 Beijing Motor Show. Beijing is a brand new under China’s BAIC. It has an electric vehicle concept with futuristic looks and numbers that can compete with current top brands. Take a look at the photos.

CarNewsChina reports the Beijing Radiance Concept has a maximum driving distance of 497 miles (800 km) under the New European Driving Cycle. Beijing claims that the vehicle will be capable of autonomous driving at level 4, similar to Tesla’s Autopilot feature.

The Radiance’s futuristic look is evident at the Motor Show booth. However, its production version will likely be more subtle. The concept vehicle is a four-door coupe from the front, with a sleek, fast appeal. For that futuristic appeal, a slew of LEDs are found in the rear.

Futurism continues inside, with a minimalist cabin that is free of clutters. A screen is integrated into the steering wheel, and the dashboard is topped by an enormous infotainment system.

It is not known when the concept will become reality and if it will be available for sale outside of the People’s Republic. If the above numbers were to become reality, Tesla could be competing in China, an important market for electric cars.
