The Bentley Bentayga has a lot of gadgets. For instance, the seats can be heated, ventilated and massaged electrically.
There’s also the stereo which can have up to 20 speakers. Four-zone climate control. A fridge. Radar sensors. Cameras. A separate 48-volt system is available for active roll control. All of these are controlled by at least 90 computers that transmit and receive signals.
These CAD images by Bentley illustrate that the electrical system of a Bentayga can be extremely complex. Although it looks complicated, you can see the logic. It is easy to see the car’s outline, and the location of its major components.
The harness arrives on a pallet that is twice the size of the car. It’s stiff and difficult to maneuver, according to Bentley. It weighs 110 pounds.
There are no two harnesses the same. There are so many choices on the Bentayga that the same harness combination is not often specified twice. Each harness must be made for a specific car.
The Bentley Bentayga is not only one of the most capable and luxurious cars on the market, but also an amazing feat of electrical engineering. These images are, in a strange way, quite beautiful.
