Although there is still much to be done, this beast is already impressive.
Russians have created a Bentley Continental GT which rides on tank treads. The crazy machine works, at least partially, according to a new video. It’s called the Ultratank by the team, which is a fitting name for this magnificent beast.
The Ultratank can handle both off-road driving and steep grades, which is a strong proof of concept. It also sounds amazing.
The builders still have a lot of work to do. There is a major problem with the treads. This causes the tracks to slip off the vehicle when cornering hard. It is also laborious to put one back on, so there must be a solution.
More weirdness
There are powertrain modifications that can be made. The Ultratank team hopes to achieve speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h), but the current speed is around 31 mph (50 km/h). However, the builders do not believe that doubling the vehicle’s speed is too difficult.
Other flaws are less serious. There aren’t doors yet so dirt and dust can get on the tread. The brake pedal is also not working at the moment.
UPDATE: Now it has doors!
The video below mainly focuses on driving an Ultratank. The clip below will show you how the vehicle operates mechanically. This is a team of highly skilled builders.
