We shared earlier this week the first spy photos showing a more extreme version of the Bentley Continental GT. Today we bring you another set of photos, this time showing a hybrid version of this Conti GT. Although it may look like a regular Continental GT there is a catch.

You can see that the charging port is located on the car’s rear left fender. The Continental GT usually has one fuel cap on its right fender. However, this prototype has a second cap that hides the charging port. Although it is a little surprising that the charging port is not on one of these front fenders, engineers are experts in this field.

According to what we know, the PHEV Continental GT will be using a reworked Porsche hybrid system. This was first seen in the Panamera hybrid. It’s actually the same system as the Bentayga Hybrid – a 3.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and an electrical motor that can operate on electric energy for up 31 miles (50 km) during the NEDC test cycle. Bentley does not provide details about the system’s total horsepower, torque, battery size or whether it has any effect on interior storage.

We do know that the Porsche Panamera 4 EHybrid powertrain produces 462 horsepower and 516 pounds-feet, while the Panamera Turbo S EHybrid Sport Turismo generates 680 horsepower. According to different sources, Bentley could be receiving the more powerful version. This would make the Continental GT PHEV the most powerful grand tourer. However, there is no confirmation at this time.

British automaker, British Automaker, hopes to offer hybrid models of all future models. The plug-in hybrid technology is the company’s preferred choice and it plans to spend a lot of money on it.
