The current-generation Bentley Flying Spur doesn’t look old at all.
The was a four-door luxury dynamo with blistering performance and exquisite luxury, but Bentley wants to add some sportiness to the mix. This is the result, and it bears the unsporty title of Styling Specification.
This is Bentley-speak for a factory-developed body kit. The kit is available for order on new Flying Spurs and includes a modified front fascia with carbon fiber lip spoiler. Side skirts made from carbon fiber bridge the gap between wheel wells. You’ll also find a modest diffuser at the rear with a decklid spoiler on top. This is again made of carbon fiber.
This upgrade is more formal because it’s a Bentley. The carbon fiber components use a 2×2 twill pattern. This ensures that the visible pattern matches perfectly and it is given a high gloss finish. Side skirts include a Bentley badge. However, this badge was designed specifically for these skirts to reduce the risk of air bubbles during the lacquer coat process. Bentley claims that extensive testing was conducted to ensure that the components are not only high quality but also don’t interfere in any way with the Flying Spurs’ aerodynamics and technological systems.
This is a good thing, as the Flying Spur is the fastest four-door sedan on the planet. Although it can travel 207 mph with these components, Bentley does not mention whether that speed is possible. Bentley says buyers can order the Styling Specification to be installed on their new cars immediately or later. The price is not listed, but you can get a few factory add-ons in carbon fiber if you have the funds.
