It is possible to get in the supercar, but you cannot get out.
A Lamborghini employee is experiencing a bad start to his job. The person’s mistake has caused a recall of 26 units of the 2020 Aventador SVJ Coupe, and Aventador SVJ Roadster. This could cause the doors to not open from the inside. According to the company, the problem was described in a statement to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. “During assembly, a new operator who wasn’t properly trained may not have correctly engaged the bowden wire pin within the internal door handles.”
Without warning, the internal door handle may fail. In an emergency, supercar occupants may not be able to exit the vehicle. This issue does not affect the operation of the outer handles, as they have different components. It is still possible to get in the supercars.
Lamborghini found the problem during its end-on-line quality control. Lambo conducted an internal investigation and found that the problem was caused by vehicles manufactured between December 2019-January 2020. The company has since redesigned the assembly process and possibly spoken to the new employee.
Lamborghini will soon contact owners who may be affected and dealers will replace the entire internal door handle. According to NHTSA, the company will start making repairs around May 1.
Lamborghini plans to construct 900 units of its Aventador SVJ coupe, and 800 units for the Roadster. They both use a V12 engine that produces 770 horsepower (520 kilowatts), and 531 pound feet (531 Newton-meters). The ALA 2.0 active aerodynamic system adjusts downforce and side to side forces during cornering.
