Are you ready for electrification
The new 1 Series BMW model is a huge success. The latest generation is responsible for huge sales and a platform for some of the best hot hatches from BMW (Yes, we are talking about M135i, and 1M). However, it takes a big detour to the dismay of many loyal BMW fans. The new front-wheel drive layout and architecture may seem a bit disappointing to some. However, most 1 Series owners don’t know or care much about the differences between the wheels where the power is sent. There is a rumor that BMW will keep the F40 1 Series as it is until its end. How long? It took just five years.
Although this isn’t the first time BMW has gone beyond its seven-year production cycle, it won’t stop them from making technical improvements to the 1 Series. However, if the rumor is true, you won’t see a facelift or redesign. The BMW Blog guys picked up this rumor but have yet to confirm it through other media outlets or BMW. However, they believe that the 1 Series will adopt an electric-only model. The F40 is capable of being a plug-in hybrid, or EV vehicle from a technological standpoint. However, the jury is still out as to whether the electric model will be included in the F40 or the subsequent generations.
The positive side is that if an EV model is introduced, we might see a significant increase in cabin space due to smart compartmentalization. While still maintaining the premium feel and ease of acquiring BMW’s most accessible vehicle, there are some benefits. It seems like a win-win situation.
