At the Ultimate Speed Comparison next Wednesday, the BMW 135i will be competing against a V8 Supercar or a BMW Sauber F1 vehicle. It seems fair to compare two thoroughbred racing cars with a mostly stock car.
David will face off against two Goliaths during this year’s Ultimate Speed Comparison at Albert Park, during the Formula One weekend. In order to entertain and offer a fair comparison of cars that might not normally be “competing”, the Ultimate Speed Comparison was created.
Paul Gover, motoring journalist and owner of BMW 135i Coupe with BMW Performance Products, will be present at the line-up. He will be wearing tii livery. Christian Klien will drive a BMW Sauber F1 car, while Greg Murphy will be driving his Sprint Gas Racing car. This means that two race cars with pedigreed histories will be competing against the 135i.
The 135i comes with a carbon-fiber-look bonnet and carbon fiber-covered mirrors, as well as a BMW Performance aerodynamic package. Additional features include alloy wheels of 18 inches, a cross-drilled brake package and a roadholding suspension setup.
The standard 3.0-litre twin turbo straight 6 engine that powers the 135i is also used in BMW’s other models. It has a maximum speed of 250 km/h and produces 225kW (306hp).
The Ultimate Speed Comparison will be held at five times on race weekend: twice on Thursday, once on Friday and once on Saturday just before the main grand prix starts.
