A long roof M3 is a viable business option. We don’t have to feel the tugging at our heartsstrings.
We have seen spy photos of the next BMW 3 Series Sports Wagon and there are rumors that it could be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March. These rumors are supported further by a report from Autocar that also suggests a reveal at or just before the big spring show in Switzerland. The Autocar report also contains something interesting. It centers on a familiar combination of letter-number combinations. A high-performance M3 variant may also be possible. This is very fascinating indeed.
It would be the first production-ready M-badged 3 Series Touring model. BMW built a high-performance 3er with big backside back in the days of the E46 model. Unfortunately, that M3 Touring project was a one-off. If true, the new BMW model will be a major step forward in this segment.
Autocar has no idea where these rumors came from. However, Autocar does have some details. These insiders say that the M3 Touring is currently under consideration. Although it is far from being confirmed, it is still a promising bit of information. BMW’s German rivals already have high-performance wagons within the segment, namely, the Mercedes-AMG C63 Estate, and Audi RS4 avant. Executives can see a strong business case for the M3 Touring. We believe that increasing the price of the wagon with the new sedan would be a small investment.
BMW should finally make a M3 long-roof roof. There are many reasons. First, however, we must see the standard Touring model. It now appears very likely that this will occur in March.
