BMW 3 Series Wagon Can Reach 174 MPH on Autobahn

Who said wagons had to be slow?

Although the station wagons are no longer popular in the United States, they still play an important role in personal transport in Europe, particularly in Germany. Almost all German automakers have long-roof versions of their core models. Premium brands like Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz offer some of most powerful wagon models anywhere in the world, and this has been the case for many years.

If you want to speed up on the German Autobahn, you don’t need to buy a new performance wagon. Some older generation models are quite capable. The BMW 3 Series was a powerful and attractive wagon version of the E90 model. There were a variety of gasoline and diesel turbo engines available, with the top-of-the-line variants providing respectable performance.

New video shows us riding onboard a 3 Series E91 with 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight six engine. It produces 302 horsepower (225kilowatts) as well as 300 lbft (400 Newton-meters), in its factory form. This is not a stock model. It has 500 horsepower (368 kW) and comes from the same turbocharged inline-six engine.

This video contains accelerations of between 62 and 124 miles per hour (100 to 200 kilometers per hour). We are truly amazed at this BMW wagon. The car can sprint in just eight seconds, and it can reach speeds of 174 mph (280 km/h). We are amazed at its performance, even though it was originally a luxury family hauler.

The 3 Series wagon comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox, which we forgot to mention. This adds to the thrill behind the wheel. This car is a great looking car, with 500 horsepower and ample cargo space that will hold all your belongings. It can also deliver supercar performance. Yes, please.
