A few changes are being made to the BMW 3-series range for 2012, which will bring the product’s current status.

A few changes have been made to the BMW 3-Series range for the new model year.

BMW 3-series

The xDrive four wheel-drive system will be available as an option for the 320i, 328i and 335i. The electronic-controlled system distributes power between front and rear wheels to ensure maximum traction. It also adjusts depending on road conditions.

BMW also confirmed that xDrive would be available on the 320d in the future.

BMW 320i EfficientDynamics Version

The 3-series range will be further extended by the addition of the economical BMW 320i EfficientDynamics edition.

The engine is largely based upon the diesel equivalent (320d). It uses a turbo-powered 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 170PS (125kW/168hp), and can be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed auto transmission. It emits 124g/km CO2 and has a fuel economy of 5.2L/100km. It can accelerate from 0-100kph (0-60mph) in 7.6 seconds.

Entry level BMW 316i

The 316i, a new entry-level model, will be available. It is powered by a four cylinder engine that produces 136PS (100kW/134hp). It has a speed of 0-100kph (0-62mph) in 8.9 seconds and CO2 emissions of only 134g/km. There is no fuel economy rating yet.

Enhanced BMW 3-series BMW M Sport Package

An upgraded M Sport package will be the final update to the 3-series range. It will be available starting in July. The upgraded M Sport package includes lightweight 18-inch front and rear brake discs, as well as star spoke-designed 18-inch or 19.2-inch wheels.

The M Sport Package also features side sills, front and rear bumpers, and optional BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line exterior.
