It’s just one face.
The next-generation BMW 7 Series has been in development for some time, but it is not yet ready to be revealed. It’s likely that a debut will be made within a year, but we have only seen camouflaged test cars. Although they’re completely covered with camo, there are still design differences visible. A new set of renderings from Kolesa.ru gives a preview of what the luxury offering might look like once it arrives.
Spy photos show that the automaker tried to conceal the new car’s face. It appears to have a more square design. This is translated to the rendering, where the lower fascia design line wraps around the long, flat-shaped headlights. This rendering features a standard-sized grille that avoids the 4 Series’ kidney grille. The rendering also includes the flush door handles that can be found on the . It takes some liberties with its rear-end rendering. Spy photos show the car covered in thick camouflage and cladding at its rear. This obscures the entire rear-end design. The rendering shows nearly full-width rear taillights that extend the current design. They sit above a stylized rear bumper with trapezoidal tailpipes. This render has a cleaner rear end than the 7 Series’ current-generation model, but the test vehicles will need to remove some camo and cladding to fully understand the design.
The new 7 Series may not debut in the US until 2022. This would mean it arrives there for the model year 2023. BMW will launch an all-electric model, which is rumored by the name i7. However, details about other powertrains remain vague. The BMW i7 will offer more than 300 miles range and 536 horsepower (399kilowatts). It will compete against the upcoming Mercedes EQS. This is an electric version its iconic S-Class which Mercedes recently updated for 2021.
