BMW 8 Series Coupe Shown with a Little Less Camouflage

The greenhouse has been exposed.

The camouflage begins to unravel day by day as BMW tries to showcase more of the 8 Series’ production steel. It’s actually more glass in this case as the greenhouse is fully exposed in these spy shots that show not just one but three different prototypes. The two test cars with blue brake calipers, and larger exhaust tips, were most likely the M850i xDrive.

This hot M8 model will be placed right under it. A similar prototype, dipped in camo from the front to the rear, was shown April 25th. The quarter glass has been removed from the model, but the rest of the exterior has remained the same.

The new BMW V8 version has 523 horsepower (390kilowatts), and peak torque of 553 poundfeet (750 Newton meters) at 1,800 rpm. The M8 will increase the power output to at least 600 horsepower or 617 horsepower to match the Competition. We are not surprised that the M8 will be even more powerful, considering it is at the top of the company’s hierarchy.

Referring to the prototypes, they appear to have slightly less camo on their taillights. They will be extending from the trunk lid to highlight the coupe’s width. The exterior design will be faithful to the original concept and that is a good thing.

Interior leaks have almost completely revealed the cat in the bag. The production-ready 8 Series Coupe will bring in BMW’s latest digital instrument cluster as well as the latest iDrive.

BMW will launch the cabriolet shortly after the coupe’s unveiling at Le Mans on June 15. These two-door models will be joined by an 8 Series Gran Coupe, which was shown earlier in Geneva by the M8 concept.
