It is joined at Dingolfing by the M8 Competition Coupe & Convertible.
With production now in full swing, the 6 series Gran Coupe has been officially discontinued. The all-new BMW 8 GC has replaced it. The coupe-like sedan, which is confusingly called a coupe, has been sent to the factory in Dingolfing. It joins the 8 Series two-door models that have been in production for a year.
BMW does not specify whether this M850i is the very first 8 Series Gran Coupe customer-spec or one of the first, but it appears that the car in question is wearing one the fancy BMW Individual paints. A quick glance at the German configurator shows that the M850i can be ordered with Aventurine Red as an option for EUR2,400. This is most likely the color featured here. The combination of the dark exterior accents with blue brake calipers makes the coupe BMW an attractive car.
BMW also started production of the M8 Competition Coupe and M8 Competition Convertible at the Lower Bavaria plant, which currently produces five varieties of the 8 Series. After last year’s spectacular concept, the M8 Gran Coupe will be revealed in the coming months.
BMW currently produces 60 M8s per day at the factory. However, this number will likely increase once the M8 Gran Coupe enters the series production phase. According to the German marque, all M8s manufactured at Dingolfing have to pass a strict quality inspection on the break in course next to the factory before they are handed over to their owners.
BMW believes the United States will be the largest market for its M8 models, with a third of production earmarked for North American customers.
