According to BMW, a source told Motoring that the second generation X1 could be spawned a top-of-the-line M version. We discovered that the 2016 SAV could receive a hybrid derivative. Now it seems there might be an X1 M. The BMW X1 M, if it is approved for production, will be much more powerful than its predecessor, the X1 xDrive25i. It uses a turbocharged 2.0 liter gasoline engine that produces 231 PS (170 kW), 350 Nm (258 lbft) of torque and produces 231 PS (170 kW). This allows for a 0-62 mph (0–100 km/h), run time of 6.5 seconds, and a top speed of 146 mph (235km/h
The X1M will likely produce 300 PS (221 kW), and would have the usual M goodies like a beefier body, quad exhaust system, and sportier suspension. The BMW X1 M will not be released before 2017, even if it is approved for production.
