The vehicle will be made in Munich.
Bavarian Motor Works’ Bayerische Motoren Werke promised last year that the Vision Dynamics concept would eventually be transformed into an electric vehicle. Half a year later, the automaker confirms that a third member will be joining the i lineup.
The Germans mention briefly that the new i4 will come from Munich in a boring press release about BMW’s CO2 emissions over time. This will be part the company’s major push toward electrification. It includes at least 25 electrified cars over the next seven-years.
Do you remember i Vision Dynamics :
Harald Kruger (Chairman of the Board of Management, BMW) stated that by 2025, we will have 25 fully-electric or part-electric vehicles in our global vehicle portfolio. “We presented our vision for the future of emobility at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. It was the BMW iVision Dynamics. We will make this vehicle a reality in Munich – the BMW i4.
The i Vision Dynamics is powered by an advanced electric system that provides a 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration time of four seconds. The electric vehicle can travel up 373 miles (600 km) on a single charge and top speed is 120 mph (200 km/h). These numbers suggest that the production i4 will rival Tesla Model S in performance.
BMW announced the new i4 and revealed that the average CO2 emissions of new European vehicles has dropped by more than 42 per cent over the past 23 years. Bavaria’s brand is happy to share with us the fact that it delivered more than 100,000 electrified vehicles last year. This gives it a three-fold market share in the EV market than it does in the conventional vehicle segment.
