BMW could launch 9-Series to compete with Mercedes-Maybach S-Class

BMW gave hints of a more luxurious model that would sit on top of their 7-Series in April when they revealed the Vision Luxury concept. At the time, the company stated that it was a vehicle that “provides a long-term outlook on modern luxury perceptions for the brand.” Although the decision has yet to be made to make the concept production-ready, if approved by the company, the car will wear the 9-Series name and will be available in 2017. It would have a longer wheelbase than the 7-Series and should measure 5500mm in length. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class would be its main rival. If approved, the BMW 9-Series will get OLED taillights and laser headlights. The concept’s B pillars will be replaced by more traditional ones. According to BMWBLOG friends, Harald Krueger is a fan and will assume the role of BMW CEO in May. There might be a new flagship model that can compete with Daimler’s resurrected Maybach.
