BMW has a Z4 coupe, but it is unlikely to become a production car.BMW, you are such a tease.

Z4 engineers stated to Australian magazine Moto that BMW had been prohibited from releasing a Z4 coupe. This was similar to the prohibition against Toyota making a Supra convertible. It turned out that that statement was false. Both companies are free to design new bodies for their sports cars. However, this doesn’t mean that it will be possible. Even though BMW’s design chief Adrian van Hooydonk has drawn a coupe, there are very few chances of seeing a Z4 equipped with a fixed-metal roof.

BMW already sells an M2 and an , so the company doesn’t believe there is enough room to add another performance coupe of similar size. Klaus Frohlich, the development chief, also believes that the Z4 Coupe’s business case is weak. This is because the segment is so small and the demand for a roadster is six times greater than for a coupe.

Frohlich left the door open for a coupe-ified .

“But never say never. The [ coupe] segment continues to shrink and many people have failed. We do have some sexy cars, so maybe we can conquer this segment and make it bigger. Then we’ll be able to investigate further.

If BMW does decide to launch a Z4 Coupe it would be great to see something similar to the M Coupe with shooting brake styling, as shown in the attached speculative render. The styling of the coupe and convertible variants of a model is exemplary.

Although the Z4 was revealed in its entirety, the Z4’s alter ego will not be unveiled until January 2019, at the North American International Auto Show. This is obviously the Toyota Supra revival, which was first spotted yesterday in regular and upgraded trims.
