The original i3 could be preserved until 2024.
The BMWi3 was introduced in 2013. It will be remembered as the first mass-produced electric vehicle by the brand. Although it is an older model in automotive age, the demand for this vehicle remains high. According to reports, BMW had plans to increase production to meet demand in September 2013. However, another report this summer claimed that the plans were never realized. We don’t know the exact date the i3 will be out of production, but 2024 is thought to be the last year for the EV on the assembly lines.
Is there a replacement for the i3 in the works? We believe that BMW stated in 2018 that there is no plan to replace the i3, but it doesn’t mean that there won’t be an electric car from Bavaria in future. We may have an idea of what that could look like. The i Vision Circular concept, which was presented at the 2021 IAA in Munich in September 2018, was a clear indicator that something is in the works.
Our colleagues at Motor.es modified the Munich study to make it a production model to replace today’s i3. This is the final result. It’s the car that you see at the top of the page. We think it looks better than the i Vision Circular. It’s not traditional looking, but it has better proportions and looks a lot like the i3.
Motor.es reports that the new I3 could be a more sedan-like vehicle to compete with the Tesla Model 3. It will be BMW’s entry-level electric car when it launches ( ) A new generation of lithium-ion battery will power this vehicle, with a 40 percent increase in energy density. These are preliminary details and may not be confirmed. However, if they are correct, we could see the final product by 2024 or 2025.
