BMW will be bringing a fleet to transport people around Las Vegas during CES.
The Consumer Electronics Show is the first major trade show to be held in Las Vegas in 2020. It’s a very popular event for automakers who want to showcase the latest technology. BMW will have an exciting version of its i3electric car, the Urban Suite, on-hand this year. It’s not designed to feel like a car, as the name implies. This BMW will be available for people to test drive in real-world conditions, unlike other concept cars. We’ll get to that later.
The i3 Urban Suite is a new interior that replaces a large portion of the existing interior. It features a swanky footrest and seat in a bright blue shade. The seat has a small table to the left, and the screen can be flipped down from the top of the chair for viewing a movie on the move. We are not sure what BMW means when they say that the rear area has a “sound zone”. The company claims that the rear area has a personal “sound zone,” but we aren’t sure what that means.
As is the standard-issue i3, the dash and driver seat remain unchanged. The interior of the concept is designed to be sustainable. It makes extensive use of recycled materials. BMW believes that the i3 is a compact car, but the concept shows that future motoring doesn’t need to be dominated by SUVs and stretch limos.
This is where the fun begins. BMW built several i3 Urban suite models, and all of them will be coming to Vegas for CES. The automaker will also have a fleet of vehicles available to chauffeur people in need through an app. The details of the app are not yet available, but it is expected to be offered to attendees at CES. It’s not every day that you get a ride in a Concept Car – let alone a free trip around Las Vegas.
