In late 2022 or early 2023, the BMW iX hybrid crossover will get an M variant. According to a new rumor, it will pack 560 horsepower (418 megawatts), according BMW blog.
According to rumors, the performance EV will be called iX M60. It will be equipped with upgrades such as suspension tweaks and extra horsepower. To emphasize the performance, the styling will be aggressiver.
BMW will begin taking orders in June for the iX xDrive50 US and delivery will commence in early 2022. Prices start at $85,000. Two electric motors will power the electric crossover, producing over 500 horsepower (375 kW). The model will reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in a time of 5.0 seconds. In the EPA test, the 100-kilowatt hour battery was able to provide an estimated range of over 300 miles (483 km).
The entry-level iX model is the xDrive40 model which has 296 horsepower (221 kilowatts). According to the company, the exact battery capacity is not yet known but it is more than 70 kWh. According to the company, the estimated range of the WLTP test is more than 249 miles (400 km). The 150 kW charger takes about 40 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent. Although prices in the USA are not yet available, this grade is priced at EUR77,400 in Europe.
Each iX will use 132 lb (59.9 kg) of recycled plastic as well as synthetic yarn made from nylon waste material. Olive leaf extract is used in the leather treatment.
BMW will make the iX with a strong focus on sustainability. The factory uses solar and hydroelectric power. To ensure transparency in extraction and processing, the company also sources its own raw materials like cobalt.
