The standard M2 Competition won’t do the trick.
BMW has decided to say goodbye to the standard to make way for the M2 Competition. The Bavarians will happily tempt you with an assortment of M niceties to spice up your performance coupe if you have the right bank account and a understanding wife.
These upgrades are very important as you will get more than flashy body stripes and shiny wheels. The M2 Competition may look something like the one in this video by YouTube user Shmee150. You can find everything you need, including a carbon-fiber hood with power dome, roof and trunk lid.
Shmee150’s manager Mark ordered the M2 Competition with M Performance Parts. After driving the M2 for 2 years, he has driven it for nearly 40,000 km (24,854 miles) in that time. Mark will give us a video tour to the car BMW displayed last weekend at the Nurburgring 24-Hours.
Mark explains that there are approximately 25 upgrades available, and all are installed by the dealer. The carbon fiber roof is available at your BMW dealer/service center. This will remove the standard metal roof from the M2 Competition and install the lightweight version. You’ve probably already figured that M Performance Parts are mostly new carbon fiber bits. However, customers can order stronger brakes, stiffer suspension setups and titanium exhaust systems with carbon fiber tips.
You’ll find more carbon fiber under the hood as the M Performance-branded engine covers has been given a makeover. Miscellaneous items inside include Alcantara-wrapped, stainless steel pedal covers and a sporty, Alcantara wrapped steering wheel with 12 o’clock markings. The package includes carbon fiber in the center console, steering wheel, and gearshifter.
