This isn’t an M2 Competition. It has better brakes and new parts on the body.
The large gallery of spy shots shows that BMW is currently evaluating a hotter version of the HTML2 to replace the new Competition. Earlier rumors suggested that this was either the CS variant or CSL variant . However, it is not clear which one.
This vehicle is a lot like the M2 Competition in many ways, but there are some unique features. BMW’s design team follows Porsche’s lead and uses body-color tape for concealing the new parts. The adhesion doesn’t work on the corners of our extended front splitter. This exposes the part.
The test mule rode on lightweight, black, Y-spoke wheels equipped with sticky Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubbers. The brake discs are brand new and appear to be made of ceramic-composite material. The calipers are bigger than the M2 Competition and the gold color is very attractive.
Although the front stoppers are more aggressive, they have smaller calipers as the ones at the back do most of their work. To hide the larger trunk lip spoiler, BMW’s team covered it with white tape.
According to rumors, the M2 CS will be a limited-edition model that is only available in the United States. The coupe has been reduced by various upgrades, which reportedly reduces its weight by 132 pounds (60 kg). The Competition weighs in at 3,600 pounds (1.632 kg) for the manual and 3,655 lbs (1.658 kg) for the automatic. Power is expected to increase over the current 405 horsepower (302 Kilowatts) or 406 pound-feet (551 Newton meters) of torque.
Rumours suggest that the rest might be able to get a CSL version in 2021. This would make Americans less anxious about having a more powerful, special-edition M2 than they do now. It would not be available in the United States and boast an even lower weight, and more power.
