The fuel gauge may be more interesting than the speedometer.
It is understandable that a car enthusiast would want to confirm an automaker’s top speed for a particular model, especially when it is the highly desirable M2. This is the updated version, which was unveiled in May. It has subtle changes like modified full-LED headlights. The taillights have a slightly different look.
The comes standard with an electronic speed limiter at 155 mph (225 kph), but buyers who are willing to spend more can opt for the optional M Driver’s Package, which will allow the coupe to reach 168 mph (327 kph). YouTube’s AutoTopNL took the M2 LCI for a top speed test to see if he could go faster. He did.
Even though the top speed is electronically controlled, an unrestricted version of the M2 wouldn’t go faster than that given the rev counter at 6,000 rpm at about 270 kph. BMW claims that the turbocharged 3.0-liter, six-cylinder engine delivers its full 365 horsepower at 6,500 RPM while the maximum torque of 343, pound-feet (465 Newton meters) can be achieved from 1,400 RPM.
If you are a speed freak, wait until next year to see the Competition. According to rumours, the M4’s engine will be used. This could increase the top speed by around 405 horsepower. The hardcore M2 will be limited-run and likely to cost more than the $53,500 regular M2. It will also undergo a carbon fiber diet, as well as other modifications. Although it is possible that the Competition model will replace the standard M2, it is best to wait until BMW announces this.
Last note: You’ll see the fuel gauge needle drop before moving up later in this video. BMW hasn’t found a new way to make gasoline. The video is edited so that it doesn’t show top speed attempts in chronological order.
