BMW M2 is now in focus - rumors

BMW already has the M2 moniker trademarked, but we don’t know much about it – at least not yet.

BMW trademarked the M2 moniker in 2005, but we haven’t heard much about it since then.

Auto Express states that the coupe will be built on the 1Series with unique front and back fascias. Carbon fiber-reinforced polymers and high-performance brakes are expected to be part of the new M3.

Two engines are being looked at: A turbocharged 3.0-liter Inline-Six engine with 350 horsepower (261kW / 355 PS), and an unnamed tri-turbo unit that has similar performance, but better fuel efficiency. It will likely be paired with a new dual clutch transmission, which should allow for quick gear changes regardless of the powertrain.
