According to reports, it will get a 3.0-liter motor. Wo-hoo!
The next-generation 2 Series Coupe will be BMW’s only small car to have a rear-wheel drive layout. That’s why we’re so excited about it. Both the new 1 Series and 2 Series Gran Coupe will be built on an FWD platform. This leaves only one option for purists. We expect the new coupe to be available early next year, but we know exactly what to expect.
We have two photos that were taken in April and they show most of the 2 Series Coupe. While we are skeptical that it is the Bavaria-made two-door, we now have a starting point. This rendering shows the coupe in M240i form. It’s also the most sporty of the range.
It will be a completely new car but it will use a proven formula. It will have a familiar shape and closely match the profile of the 2 Series Coupe. The front fascia will heavily be inspired by the 1 Series. Meanwhile, the rear end, as shown in spy photos, will be enhanced with a pair full-LED taillights.
There is not much more information available at this time, except that the 2 Series Coupe will most likely get a family turbocharged gasoline or diesel engines depending on which market it is in. Rumours suggest that the M240i will get a modified version of M340i’s six cylinder engine. This is something we hope to see happen.
According to reports, the new 2 Series Coupe will be available in the first months in 2021. This means that it will be available in the United States as a 2022 MY Model. Although the 2 Series Convertible’s future is unknown as it would clash with Z4, this is a rumor.
