It is the fastest wagon to go around the famous track.
Officially, the BMW M3 Touring is the fastest wagon around the Nurburgring Nordschleife. It took 7 minutes and 35.060 seconds. The Mercedes-AMG E63 S took the title with 7 minutes 45 seconds. Video above shows the M3 development team preparing for the record run, and the driver pushing it around the track.
The M3 touring won’t be officially launched until June 23 at Goodwood Festival of Speed. You can even run up the hill.
We won’t be able to confirm this until the unveiling but all rumors suggest that the M3 Touring will use the same 3.0-liter twin turbocharged inline-6 engine as the sedan. It is expected that the output will be the same as the sedan’s 503 horsepower (375 Kilowatts) or 479 pound-feet (475 Newton-meters).
According to reports, the M3 Touring can only be purchased with an 8-speed automatic and all wheel drive. The wagon does not have a rear-drive or manual gearbox.
An earlier promotional video shows that the M3 touring has more suspension tuning revisions than the sedan.
This video shows several views inside the vehicle. The dashboard is covered in cloth, but no major changes are visible. The most significant difference is the extended roof, which increases rear cargo volume
It looks the same from the outside. The exterior of this vehicle is camouflaged, but it doesn’t appear like BMW has made any major styling changes to distinguish the wagon from its sedan counterpart.
There is bad news before anyone in America gets excited about the possibility of an M3 equipped with a wagon body. This variant won’t be coming to the US , according to automaker. This decision was made because homologating this variant would have been too costly for this niche product.
