It’s confirmed. BMW will release an official long-roof M3 Touring sedan. It will be the first BMW M3 wagon to be released. This is designed to appeal to the European market for powerful, yet practical, haulers. In the early 2000s there was an M3 Touring, but it was never officially sold.

A few days ago, the official release contained some details about M3 Touring. It won’t be released with the M3 sedan or M4 coupe next month because it is still in the early stages.

The large grille will likely be extended from the M3 sedan and its five-door counterpart, except that the former is more practical in terms cargo space and longer. Although rear-wheel drivetrains are not impossible, don’t be surprised if xDrive is implemented.

The official BMW-M website lists the six-cylinder M TwinPower turbo-powered engine as the engine of choice for M3 Touring. In the coming months, we’ll learn more details. Two years is a long time.
