The 2022 BMW M4 Competition Convertible debuts with a long name that describes a model that permits for fast, open-roof driving in all weather conditions. This is the first time that all-wheel drive has been made available on the M4 Convertible. Prices start at $86,300 plus $995 destination, and sales begin in October.

The new M4 Competition Convertible xDrive can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.6 seconds. The maximum speed is 155 mph (249 km/h). However, the optional M Driver’s Pack increases that number to 173 mph (280 km/h).

The retracting fabric roof is what sets this model apart. It opens and closes in just 18 seconds, at speeds of up to 31 mph (50 km/h). The folding hardtop is 40% lighter than the M4 Convertible’s previous-generation model. It features large panel bows, a flush-fitting rear window and a flush-fitting front window to create a coupe-like roofline.

The M4 Competition Convertible xDrive is essentially the same design as the 4 Series droptop. However, there are some parts from the M division that give it a sportier look. There are large openings in lower fascia and a black surround for the huge kidney grilles. The side sills are now more prominent, as well as a large rear diffuser with two pairs if circular tailpipes.

Standard equipment includes forged wheels with a 19-inch diameter front and 20-inch back. Six-piston fixed-calipers have a 14.96 inch (380 millimeters), and single-piston floating calipers have a 14.57 inch (370 millimeter) disc. Ceramic rotors are also available at an additional cost. They measure 15.75 inches (400 mm) in the front and 14.96 inches (338 mm) in the rear.

Drivers will find a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch infotainment display that runs on the iDrive 7.0 operating software. The heated standard sport seats come with Merino leather upholstery and are heated. M Carbon bucket seats can be ordered and are lighter than the standard ones. They use CFRP to reduce 21 pounds.
