Both rear-seat disable and automatic transmission are confirmed.
BMW fans can’t wait to see the new M4 CSL arrive on May 20th. The world will see the new M4CSL, and to help fans get excited, a BMW M official video gives a glimpse of what you can expect. The interior is shown in detail with new spy photos from CSL. We have a great look at the two-door BMW.
The timing and spy shots were perfect. BMW M posted a short video on YouTube of a four minute discussion about the preparation and testing involved in the new CSL. We get a close-up view of the ducktail spoiler, and we also confirm the use of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R rubber. This is not surprising considering the high-performance tires are track-focused. The video shows the empty space behind driver and confirms that the M4 CSL will have an automatic transmission.
We offer new spy photos to help you see the gearbox and seats in detail if the video is too unclear. The automatic stalk is visible in the center console. It’s surrounded by carbon fibre with M and CSL branding. Another interior shot shows the CSL front seats, which have nothing behind them. BMW will remove the rear seats as part of its weight-savings program that could reduce the by over 200 pounds. The CSL could be extremely fast if the 3.0-liter six-pot is given a 550-horsepower boost, as rumors suggest.
Are we talking record-setting fast? Although BMW M’s video suggests that the CSL will be able to do timed laps on Nordschleife in the future, don’t expect it to beat the Porsche 911 GT2RS for an all out Nurburgring record. There is a good chance that BMW may push the CSL to the limit to set a new manufacturer record for the fastest ever production Bimmer to lap the ‘Ring.
