BMW M5 Competition is the Fastest Police Car in Australia

Attention criminals! It is futile to try and outrun the police.

The United Arab Emirates has the largest police car fleet anywhere in the world. They have everything from a Renault Twizy, to a Porsche 911 Spyder. There is also a lot of variety in Australia, where police forces have had many different vehicles over the years. An FPV GT RSPEC and an Audi RS4 Avant are just a few examples. A Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe is another example. A BMW M5 in hot Competition spec is another car that you would not expect to see in police uniform.

The super sedan joins the existing 530d patrol cars and is now part the Victoria Police’s inventory. It can reach speeds of 190 mph (305 kph), after doing the 0-62mph (0-100 km/h) in a mere 3.3 seconds. The BMW M5 Competition is priced at AU$229,000. However, before you get too upset about the money wasted, taxpayers should be aware that the BMW local division provides a one-year loan.

Vikram Pawah (CEO of BMW Group Australia) spoke out about the partnership with the Australian police force.

Even though it is not often, we see large luxury sedan with twin-turbo V8 of 4.4-liter capacity producing 617 horsepower and 553 lbft (750 Nm), reporting for police duty. The Competition is more intimidating than the livery, with the typical police car lights, intakes and license plates. This should encourage traffic participants to obey speed laws.
