It has the same top speed and acceleration as a Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet.
600 horsepower (447 Kilowatts) & 516 lb-ft (706 Newton-meters), it’s easy to believe that the BMW Convertible with the Competition Package packs plenty of Bavarian muscle. G-Power’s tuners have a completely different opinion. They have tweaked the 4.4-liter V8 to get 800 horsepower (588 kW) as well as an incredible amount of torque (774 lb-ft (1.050 Nm).
These incredible numbers have made the M6 one of the fastest convertibles ever built. It can sprint to 124 mph (220 kph), in 9.8 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 205 mph (335 kph), once the tuners have removed the electronic limiter.
To achieve these performance and output numbers, it had to go through a lot of modifications. G-Power’s main focus was on the eight-cylinder BMW motor which now features both hardware and software revisions. The turbochargers were upgraded to make them more powerful and efficient.
To handle the additional power of the V8, larger downpipes were required. A titanium exhaust system was also added for an extra boost. The engine’s ECU had to also be reprogrammed in order to match the new internals.
GPower did not stop there. It also gave the M6 Convertible an adjustable coilover suspension, lighter 21-inch wheels and performance tires.
These upgrades are not cheap, it’s obvious. The extra engine mapping is EUR4,550 and the electronic top speed limiter reduction is EUR668. Upgraded turbochargers will cost you an additional EUR3,850. The downpipes mentioned with sports catalysts are EUR3,860, while the titanium exhaust is EUR6,679. The forged wheels with matching rubber tires cost EUR7,649 while the coilover suspension costs EUR2,376. You’ll pay EUR29,632 (about 31,221).
