BMW M850i by AC Schnitzer: A Fake Police Car with Real Performance Mods

It is almost as powerful as the M8 Competition.

The coronavirus epidemic has caused organizers to cancel the Essen Motor Show’s annual tuning event. SEMA’s European counterpart has been rescheduled to November 2021. However, that doesn’t stop AC Schnitzer, German tuner, from introducing its “police car”, which it developed each year as part the “Tune It!” campaign. Safe!” campaign.

It’s a project that was started by the Verband Deutscher Automobil Tuner (VDAT) in 2005 to show how tuning a car can be completely safe. AC Schnitzer has introduced its sixth police car-like lookalike. It is based on the BMW 8 Series Coupe with the M850i specification.

The modifications began with the standard police car livery, which was complemented by a Foliatec full-body wrap and blue lights on the bumper and roof. The BMW 8 Series has many tuning upgrades. These include a custom body kit and an upgraded quad exhaust system with carbon fiber tips.

AC Schnitzer also reduced the Bavarian performance coupe using aftermarket suspension springs. He also installed 21-inch wheels with matte anthracite finishes. The majority of the body parts are made from carbon fiber, while some aluminum upgrades have been added to the pedals, footrest, and gear shift paddles.

A tuning program is incomplete without performance improvements. AC Schnitzer also worked with the twin-turbo, 4.4-liter V8 engine. Although it normally produces 523 horsepower, the engine has been tuned to produce 612 horsepower. This makes it just five horses short of the M8 Competition. The torque has also increased significantly, going from 750 Newton-meters (553 pounds-feet), to a mountain-moving 612 hp (627 lb.-ft).

AC Schnitzer does not say how fast the M850i runs with the upgraded engine. However, a stock M8 competition coupe takes three seconds to go 0-60 mph and tops out at 193 mph (305 km/h).
