For a population of 7.4 million people, there are 803 examples. It is still quite rare.
BMW had announced in April that it would produce 700 units the high performance M4 GTS. The German company said the model was a “special edition limited to 700 units to commemorate the 30th anniversary BMW M3,” but it used the term “approximately 700” in its press release. However, vouchers were sent to customers and the German company used the word “approximately 700” instead.
According to members of the BimmerPost forum, the Bavarian manufacturer produced 803 examples for customers and 27 additional for promotional purposes. This information is based upon the VIN numbers of cars that have been produced.
The last M4 GTS was a Black Sapphire model manufactured in the United States on November 28. The last right-hand drive unit was built on November 8 and the last non U.S.-spec LHD variant was rolled off the assembly lines on October 27.
It is interesting to see where the additional numbers were shipped. The initial plan of BMW was to ship 300 units to the United States, 40 to Germany, 50 each to Canada and 15 each to China. There are also 30 units to the United Kingdom and Japan.
This is the same location where the HTML6 GT3, and the M135i Cup racing cars are made. The M4 GTS is a regular M4 Couture that starts life. It then undergoes a series of upgrades by the BMW M division.
We have found that more than 20 M4 GTS units are still available at BMW dealers. A quick glance at Autotrader‘s database will show you that it is possible to get one for as low as $200,000, with the most affordable example being $134,200. It is located in San Francisco. This could be a great investment, as the prices of the anniversary model are expected to rise in the coming years.
