BMW Reveals Secret ICE Concept with Odd Style

It’s not an internal combustion engine.

BMW tried the X6 concept at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. A year later, the production coupe, SUV launched. Although we doubt BMW had any idea when the X6 was launched, it is clear that the brand knew what they were doing. We also think the X6 will be a popular choice for coupe-shaped vehicles. The company’s design team tried a similar idea a few years ago, before the first BMW SAV was available in dealerships.

BMW Reveals Secret ICE Concept with Odd Style

This is the BMW Group Classic latest video on YouTube. It’s a very special video. The clip features two new concepts of BMW. The highlight is the BMW ICE concept. It is a unique combination of a coupe and a roadster as well as an SUV. The ICE name is not derived from internal combustion engine. It stands for Integrated Concept Engineering.

The chassis was derived from the X5 and the interior was adapted to the Z4 with two small seats at the back. It was actually based on the BMW X-Coupe design from 2001, which can best be described as “a coupe-X in one car”. However, the ICE prototype is making its world premiere now, 17 years after it was created.

Interestingly, the majority of the design concept for ICE was created at the BMW Californian Design Center. Bavaria wanted different input from designers who knew more about Malibu’s lifestyle. It was a four-seat, two-door sports car with four seats that was based on the X5.

The video at the top will show you more details about the secret concept. We’ll give you a teaser: the roofline allows two mountain bikes to fit into the cargo area.
